Spicy Air-Fried Tuna Cakes (Paleo, Single-Serve)

paleo single-serve spicy tuna cake recipe for the air fryer.

Air fried tuna cakes are one of my absolute favorite healthy, protein-packed meals to make on busy weeknights! This super flavorful spicy tuna cake recipe never disappoints…

A Healthy Air Fryer Recipe!

My air fryer is easily the most used appliance in my kitchen these days. From golden-brown tuna cakes to homemade donut holes, I always get that perfect soft-on-the-inside-crispy-on-the-outside result. It’s similar to what you would get from frying, but without all of the refined inflammatory oils (and subsequent tummy aches).

This healthy tuna cake recipe also only takes 10 minutes!

Making healthier versions of my favorite fried foods in the air fryer is something that I’ve been having wayyy too much fun with recently. Anything that you typically either bake or fry can easily just be thrown into the air fryer!

Spicy Tuna Cake Dishes:

I love eating these spicy tuna cakes by themselves as an appetizer, but they are also incredible on top of bowls, salads, or paired with a grain-free pasta dish!

Specifically for these spicy tuna cakes, I always like to eat them with something that is kind of bland to balance out the heat. Although these spicy tuna cakes aren’t too spicy (I have the spice tolerance of a child lol), I always like dishes that offer a flavor contrast better than those that don’t!

I also think that these spicy tuna cakes are delicious paired with sweet steamed beets, tangy goat cheese, and fresh vegetables!

These spicy tuna cakes are also a great source of high-quality protein so they are super satisfying. Putting them on a salad paired with a good source of healthy fats (olive oil, slivered almonds, pepitas) can help bulk it up to keep you full for longer!

What You’ll Need:

How to Make Paleo Tuna Cakes:

Step 1: Whisk the egg, coconut flour, and tapioca flour with the spices until well combined. Open the can of tuna, rinse well with cold water, and drain completely.

Step 2: Use a fork to finely shred the canned tuna. Add the whisked egg/spice mixture to the shredded tuna and mix well. Form the mixture into 3 to 5 tuna cakes and place in an air fryer basket lined with parchment paper.

Step 3: Air fry for 10 minutes, until the outside is a deep golden-brown.

Step 4: Garnish them with extra dried parsley and sriracha and enjoy these paleo tuna cakes warm!
