Description
4-ingredient, no-sugar added homemade strawberry syrup! This healthy, SCD-friendly syrup recipe is so easy to make and keep in the refrigerator to drizzle over sweet breakfasts and desserts.
Ingredients
- 2 cups strawberries, fresh or frozen (I use frozen!)
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp. honey
- 1 tbsp. monk fruit sweetener
Instructions
- Combine the strawberries and water in a small stovetop pot. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, until the strawberries are tender enough to mash with a fork.
- Add in the honey and monk fruit to the mashed berry mixture and continue to cook for 25-30 minutes. Stir frequently. After 30 minutes, the mixture should be thick and “syrupy”
- Pour the strawberry mixture over a fine mesh strainer into a bowl to remove the pulp and seeds. Serve warm or store covered in the refrigerator.
