scd mediterranean tuna cakes

healthy tuna cakes

Crispy, flavorful, air fried tuna cakes! These are made with a base of just 3 specific-carbohydrate-diet-legal ingredients and absolutely packed with some of my favorite Mediterranean spices!

Crispy Tuna Cakes: No Oil Needed!

I absolutely love these grain-free tuna cakes: I may or may not have made them three times this past week… oops! They get so crispy in the air fryer, but they work super well in the oven too.

I always loved the traditional deep fried tuna/crab cakes filled with bread crumbs and funky oils, but they never failed to leave me feeling heavy and “blah” after eating them. Who else relates?!

So when I found myself craving them the other day, I was determined to re-create a healthier version that wouldn’t leave me feeling sick. These delicious crispy tuna cakes were the result!

Some of my favorite things to pair them with include fresh avocado, a greek yogurt dressing, and fresh zucchini spirals. The combination of protein and healthy fats make for the most satisfying easy dinner.

How to Make Oil-Free Tuna Cakes

Step 1: Combine the tuna, egg, coconut flour, and all of the spices, mixing until well-combined.

Step 2: With your hands, form the mixture into cakes and toss in the crushed parmesan crisps.

Step 3: Air fry or bake!

Step 4: Serve hot with fresh veggies, avocado, or whatever else you’re feeling for a perfect healthy dinner option.
