Crispy on the outside and absolutely packed with Mexican inspired flavors! These air fried tuna cakes are one of my favorite easy high-protein meals…
Air Fried Tuna Cakes
After making these tuna cakes in the air fryer, you’ll never want to go back to pan frying. Trust me on this one. This tuna cake recipe is nearly foolproof, and they always seem to come out perfectly! PLUS there’s no need for messy flipping, trying to fit all of them on one pan, or worrying about burning them.
These tuna cakes are also air fried to make them just a little bit healthier as well without compromising on flavor. Instead of pan frying with hot oil (which may lead to free radical formation, depending on which oil you’re using) air frying is a fantastic alternative method! Air fried tuna cakes also still have the characteristic golden-brown exterior than traditional fried tuna cakes do. Its a win-win.
An Easy Single-Serve Recipe
Current status in life: single busy gal in her early twenties, with no extra energy for excessive cooking endeavors on weeknights. If you can relate, this one’s for you!
These healthier tuna cakes are an absolute game changer. This single-serve recipe doesn’t leave you with soggy leftovers. The nourishing ingredients in this tuna cake recipe also give me enough energy and high-quality protein to satisfy me for hours! All you need is one bowl, an air fryer (or oven!), and 15 minutes.
I love eating these in a grain-free taco shell or on top of a taco salad. They’re also delicious as little sliders or lettuce wraps if you’re living the grain-free lifestyle like I am!
How to Make Air Fried Tuna Cakes:
Step 1: Drain and rinse the tuna well, patting dry with a paper towel and finely shredding with a fork. Combine all of the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well.
Step 2: Form the tuna mixture into 3-5 tuna cakes. Place into the basket of an air fryer basket lined with parchment paper.
Step 3: Air Fry (or bake) for 10-12 minutes, or until deeply golden brown on the outside. (Optional) top with aged cheddar cheese and air fry for an additional 3 minutes to melt.
Step 4: assemble taco ingredients of choice and eat warm!
